World Radio — Privacy Policy

World Radio (“the app”) is an Android app for listening to live radio, podcasts and audiobooks, provided by Fabio Bartucci. This policy explains what data is processed when you use it.

Summary

  • No account is needed, and we never ask for your name, email or other personal details.
  • Favourites, history, playback position and recordings stay on your device only.
  • The app is free and shows ads through Google AdMob, which processes some device data as described below.
  • The developer runs no servers of its own and does not receive your data.

Data stored on your device

The app keeps the following locally and never sends it to the developer:

  • favourite stations and listening history;
  • resume position for podcasts and audiobooks;
  • settings (equalizer, language, preferences);
  • recordings of live broadcasts, encrypted with AES-256; the encryption key is held in the system’s secure storage (Android Keystore);
  • the daily counter of free recordings.

Android automatic backup is disabled for this data. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it.

External services the app connects to

To work, the app connects directly to third-party services. Like any Internet connection, they receive your device’s IP address and basic technical information (for example, which app is making the request).

  • Radio Browser (radio-browser.info) — station directory. Receives searches and the chosen country; the station you start is reported anonymously to update its popularity.
  • Radio broadcasters — live audio stream. Receive your IP address and the stream request.
  • Apple Podcasts (itunes.apple.com) and publishers’ RSS feeds — podcast charts and episodes. Receive the chosen country and genre and your searches.
  • Internet Archive (archive.org) — audiobooks. Receives the chosen language and your searches.
  • Google AdMob and Google User Messaging Platform — ads and consent management. See “Advertising”.
  • Google Cast — casting to Chromecast: discovery of devices on your local network, only when you use the feature.

Each service processes data under its own privacy policy.

Advertising

The app shows ads (rewarded videos and interstitials) served by Google AdMob. To select and measure ads, AdMob may collect:

  • the device’s advertising ID (Android Advertising ID);
  • IP address and the approximate location derived from it;
  • device information (model, operating system, language);
  • ad interactions and diagnostic data.

In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the app shows Google’s consent form (User Messaging Platform) on first launch, so you can choose whether to allow personalised ads. If you decline, you will still see non-personalised ads.

You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in Android Settings › Google › Ads.

No ads are ever shown on the car display (Android Auto).

  • Running the app (directory, streaming): providing the service you request.
  • Personalised ads: your consent, which you can withdraw.
  • Non-personalised ads and ad-fraud prevention: legitimate interest.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.

Your rights

Because the developer keeps no personal data, there is nothing held by the developer to access, correct or delete. You can delete all local data by uninstalling the app or clearing its data in Android settings. For data processed by Google, use the tools Google provides. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Security

Recordings are encrypted on the device. Connections to external services use HTTPS wherever the service supports it; some broadcasters only stream over HTTP.

Changes

Any changes to this policy will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date.
