Music Discovery & Audio Player — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the Music Discovery & Audio Player mobile application for Android devices, developed and maintained by Fabio Bartucci (“the Service Provider”). The application allows users to discover, stream, and download free music licensed under Creative Commons terms or dedicated to the public domain.

Overview

No account creation is required, and we do not collect your name, email address, physical address, or payment details.
Downloaded audio files, favorite tracks, playlists, and playback history are stored locally on your device (via Android DataStore).
The application is free to use and supported by advertising (Google AdMob), adhering to privacy standards and GDPR consent requirements.
Music files and metadata are fetched directly from official, legal public APIs (Internet Archive, ccMixter, Wikimedia Commons, Audius, Incompetech).

Information Collection and Use

When you use the application, certain information may be collected automatically by integrated third-party SDKs:

Device Identifiers: Android Advertising ID (AAID) and anonymous installation identifiers.
Usage Data: Pages visited within the app, track interactions, session duration, and feature usage.
Diagnostic and Performance Data: Crash reports and performance metrics (such as network response times and app start duration).
IP Address & Coarse Location: Used solely for network routing, diagnostic purposes, and serving non-precise geographic ads.

Downloaded audio tracks and local library data are stored strictly on your device and are never uploaded to servers operated by the developer.

Third-Party Services

The application utilizes external third-party services that handle data in accordance with their respective privacy policies:

Google AdMob & Google User Messaging Platform (UMP): For ad serving and GDPR consent management. Users in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland are presented with a consent form upon first launch to choose between personalized and non-personalized ads. policies.google.com/privacy

Open Music APIs & Catalogs: Internet Archive, Audius, ccMixter, Incompetech, and Wikimedia Commons. When you search, stream, or download a track, your device connects directly to the respective catalog server using standard HTTP requests (transmitting your IP address and client User-Agent).

Data Retention

Aggregated analytics and diagnostic metrics collected by Firebase and AdMob are retained for up to 24 months. Data stored locally on your device (cached audio, playlists, favorites) can be removed at any time by clearing application data in Android Settings or uninstalling the app.

If you reside in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you are entitled to rights granted under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including access, correction, deletion, and consent withdrawal. California residents have rights under CCPA/CPRA. To exercise any of these rights, contact the developer at app.fbmb@gmail.com.

You may also reset or delete your Android Advertising ID at any time via: Android Settings › Google › Ads.

Children’s Privacy

The application is not directed at children under the age of 13, and the developer does not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you become aware that a child has provided personal information, please reach out so that it can be promptly deleted.

This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically. Any material changes will be reflected with an updated effective date at the top of this page.
